Foster an animal, save a life

IMG_0697Thank you for your interest in becoming a Helping Hands Rescue foster parent volunteer. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens, dogs and puppies in their own Lewiston Clarkston area homes. Some animals need as little as one weeks of care, while others may need care for two to three months.  Fostering is flexible enough for most lifestyles and Helping Hands Rescue will match the animals to each foster home. By offering your time, energy and home to an animal in need, you provide a safe and loving place for the animal to stay and prepare the animal for adoption into a permanent home. Helping Hands Rescue is always looking for more foster homes.

IMG_4347Kitten/Cat fosters Needed ASAP! Kitten season is upon us and we REALLY need kitten and cat fosters for all the unwanted kittens and cats that need our help.  We provide the supplies and veterinary care – you supply a safe place and TLC.  If you are interested in fostering, please fill out a foster application below.  Thank you

Helping Hands Rescue provides: all veterinary care and medicine for foster animals, pet supplies if needed, food, plus plenty of support to foster parent volunteers.

Foster parent volunteers provide: time, a place in their home, and lots of love.

How foster care works

  • When Helping Hands Rescue receives word of an animal in need, we contact foster parent volunteers. There will be plenty of other opportunities to foster, so there is no pressure to take an animal.
  • Foster parents generally pick up animals at a local vet after they have been vet-checked and received any veterinary care that they needed. At that time, volunteers receive information about the animal’s condition and needs.
  • Foster parents may need to bring the animal to Petco adoption events on Saturdays from 10-3. Foster parents are not required to sit for the adoption event.
  • Because a foster parent will get to know the foster pet more than anyone else, the foster can provide useful information to potential adopters to find the best fit for that particular animal.
